To what extent are the Smithsonian branches and other museums in Washington, D.C. using Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and Pinterest? Are the DC museums doing something completely different in video and social media than the New York museums?

Washington, D.C. Museums: 2014 Video and Social Media Rankings, is a 51-page report that assesses video and social media utilization, reach, and output for 43 metro-area museums, gardens, libraries, and zoos.

We gathered statistics on the number of video views, photos, and tweets associated with each of the 43 museums during a three-day period in March 2014 and ranked each museum based on public engagement.
